Valencia, February 23 – The 15th Workshop of the Spanish Society of Microbiota, Probiotics, and Prebiotics (SEMiPyP) was a resounding success this year, held from February 21 to 23 at the Meliá Hotel in Seville. Under the theme “The Human Microbiome and Its Modulation Across Different Life Stages”, the event brought together leading experts in microbiota, health, and nutrition.
One of the most anticipated moments was the basic course titled “The Microbiota in the Mother/Child Pair”, taught on Wednesday, February 22, by the renowned researcher Mª Carmen Collado. During this session, key topics were addressed, including the role of maternal microbiota in baby development, microbial transmission during birth and breastfeeding, and the long-term health implications for the child.
In addition to the course, the workshop featured a series of keynote lectures, roundtable discussions, and interactive sessions where advancements in microbiome modulation across various life stages were discussed, including infancy, adulthood, and aging. New therapeutic strategies based on probiotics, prebiotics, and postbiotics were also presented, sparking an enriching debate among researchers, clinicians, and professionals in the field.
The event actively promoted the exchange of knowledge and experiences, solidifying SEMiPyP as a reference in microbiota research and clinical application. Dr. Mª Carmen Collado highlighted the importance of continuing to explore the microbiome’s impact on human health and emphasized the need to strengthen multidisciplinary collaborations to advance this field.
The 15th SEMiPyP Workshop once again left a significant mark on the scientific community, reaffirming the commitment of researchers and professionals to advancing knowledge on microbiota and its impact on public health. The high participation and enthusiasm of the attendees reinforced the essential role of such meetings in promoting innovation and research in microbiota and health.
