Valencia, February 9, 2024 – From February 7 to 9, the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Valencia hosted the 12th edition of the Biomedical Research Congress, where M. Carmen Collado, leader of MAINBIOTICS at IATA-CSIC, participated in a prominent roundtable discussion on the world of microbiota titled “Microbiota: Our Invisible Ally.”

The event brought together more than 400 students from various Spanish universities in a format that combined both in-person and virtual participation to accommodate current needs. The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished academic and scientific figures, including M. Vicenta Mestre, the Rector of the University of Valencia, and Amparo Ruiz, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, among others.

The Congress, conceived and organized by students, provided a fundamental space for exchanging ideas and fostering critical thinking among students, researchers, and scientists. Over three intense days, participants immersed themselves in keynote lectures, roundtable discussions, and practical workshops that addressed the most relevant research topics in the field today.

The roundtable discussion on microbiota featured experts such as M. Carmen Collado, researcher at the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA-CSIC), alongside other professionals and researchers including Verónica Llorens, Inmaculada Moreno, and Vicente Gasull, who shared their knowledge and findings on this crucial area of human health.

In addition to academic discussions, the congress served as a platform to recognize emerging talent through poster competitions, oral communications, scientific art, and scientific outreach videos, thus highlighting the importance of creativity and innovation in science communication.

This event not only strengthens ties between academic institutions and health professionals but also drives the development of future generations of scientists committed to advancing biomedical knowledge.
